FACTS THAT PATRONS OF THE RAVINE MIGHT LIKE TO KNOW
Each of our pools has its own filtration system, thereby helping to decrease the possibility
of any cross-contamination from pool to pool. Our filtering systems are of the high-rate sand filtration type which
are very effective and used extensively in the aquatic industry. We also employ a computerized sanitizing system
which monitors the sanitizing capability of the water at a rate of once every 2 seconds. Additionally, we manually
monitor the water in each of our pools 3-4 times daily. The Ravine also uses a UV sanitizing system on each of
the 3 filtration systems. We are one of the few waterparks in the U.S. that utilizes this type of system at this time.
So, we are confident that the quality of the water which we put back into our pools is one the highest in the
industry.
THE RAVINE LIFEGUARDS
Each of the lifeguards at The Ravine undergoes a training program that prepares them for their job duties at a waterpark. Waterparks are inherently different than many other types of aquatic venues by virtue of their dynamic activities.
All of our lifeguards are tested and certified by NASCO (National Aquatic Safety Company), which has been an industry leader in lifesaving and scanning techniques relevant to lifeguarding; and specifically, to lifeguarding at waterparks around the world. Our lifeguards are monitored daily for their effectiveness, their state of alertness, and their general well-being.
A tired, unfocused or sunburned lifeguard is not a good lifeguard. Our lifeguards are mandated to:
always wear sunglasses to help ward off eye fatigue;
always wear sunblock to help with skin proteciton
rotate their guarding positions every 30 mins. to help eliminate boredom and complacency
solicit the assistance of a supervisor if their rotation schedule has been compromised
undergo a variety of training sessions on a weekly basis.
be assessed daily on their effectiveness at a variety of postions during the course of a day.
NASCO certified waterparks have the best record in the industry regarding drownings.
Twice each summer, The Ravine is subject to an unannounced visit by NASCO personnel whereby our lifeguards and their activities are observed and scored on a quantifiable basis.
The California DOSH ( a division of CAL/OSHA) is also a rigorous inspector of all of our water attractions and our lifeguards.
The Ravine recently( June 8-June 12, 2009) underwent our annual 3 day DOSH inspection of all of our slide and lifeguard documentation and the structural state of our water attractions. We passed all with flying colors. DOSH reps will also conduct an unannounced visit to inpect the activities of our lifeguards sometime this summer to ascertain that they are vigilant and current with their training.
We, at The Ravine, hope that this may answer some of the questions which you may have about us, and waterparks in the State of California, in general.
